5 Songs That Made Me Cry Last Week

Sometimes it’s because I’m sad. Sometimes it’s because I’m vulnerable. Sometimes I’m just overcome by the beauty I’m hearing. But no matter what it is, I always love it when a song can make me cry. Here are five that got the job done last week.

  1. “Fix You” Coldplay

If I didn’t want to cry I should have turned it off. Every time I hear this one there is a 50% chance of waterworks. This time it was after the build at the end when the song explodes. The dam just broke and I let it happen.

2. “In Bloom” Nirvana

Maybe it was because we’ve all suffered through two years of so much loss that the loss of Kurt Cobain just came to visit. It sat there as I listened to this beautiful ode to Irony and that was that.

3. “Driver’s License” Olivia Rodrigo

I am forced to listen to a ton of pop radio as the father of three young daughters. Some of it is tough to bear, some of it is okay. This young lady though, has been a godsend for my ears during carpool hours. “Daddy are you crying?”. “I sure am honey”.

4. “Don’t Give Up” Peter Gabriel

I’m trying not to Peter. All the freaking time. Thanks for the boost, and the tears.

5. “Windmills” Toad the Wet Sprocket

We’ve all continually run into walls again and again while convincing ourselves it was the right thing to do. You can fight it, you can try and stop it or like me, you can cry about it.

That is all. Thanks for listening.
